First in Downtown Eastside Vancouver, we had a Christmas party with our friends... offering more than the food and drink that meets their physical needs, we offer them as well community and fellowship. The ambiance was great. People felt welcomed and at ease and open to share their life stories. There was lots of great food, laughter, music and even dancing! We had fun and peoples' lives were touched, as one grown man even cried at the experience of God's love in our midst.
The last picture is of our local Vineyard church that we've now started going to. They meet all together every other week in the community center for their worship services and then the other weeks in their home groups at people's houses.
Farther south, down in California, we celebrated Christmas with the family. It was a nice week of just being together, playing games, eating, watching a movie or two, joking and laughing.... It was fun and as well very meaningful for us, since we had not spent Christmas in Cali since 2002. Since it was a short week, we just mainly focused on being with the family and didn't really have time to meet with any other people. Maybe next time, we'll be able to meet up with some more friends as well.
